Of all the films trying to show just what the war feels like, Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker is the one that cracks it. At the top of her game, there is no better chronicler of pure guts under fire than Bigelow. This film stands among her very best.
After a shocking opening sequence, James (Jeremy Renner) joins a tightly knit bomb-disposal unit where Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) is already the intelligence expert. James, by contrast, is a real cowboy. Even in the hulking shell of his bomb suit, his swagger is obvious. He has successfully disabled 873 devices, approaching the job with the no-nonsense grit of a Bigelow hero – and the recklessness too.
But as the unit faces tougher challenges with each new bomb, the men start to fight James's bullish methods. They have only thirty-eight days left in their rotation. They want to live to see day thirty-nine.
The Hurt Locker is a masterwork of suspense. Bigelow immerses her story in the specifics of the job these men do, even as she amps up the tension from the first scene and keeps it cranked throughout. And by choosing an explosives team, she has found the key to understanding the particular character of the Iraq war. Just as helicopters and guerilla warfare encapsulated Vietnam, improvised explosive devices define Iraq. Apart from their lethal force, these hidden bombs obliterate trust. The men of Bravo Company are amused by a local kid, who has named himself Beckham and adopted a hip-hop attitude. But they can't trust him any more than they can help him.

I was pretty unsure under which category to put this game, but in the end I decided strategy is the most appropriate since it plays the biggest role in the gameplay. However, Supaplex is a lot more than just a strategy game. It is also packed with action which makes it an extremely dynamic and interesting game. You play a role of a computer bug made in the image of pac-man. On each level, your task is to consume all atoms and then reach the exit point. To do this you will have to evade anti-virus softwares which is represented by scissors, firewalls that look like big bombs, short-circuits that will fry you and many more interesting obstacles. You will need to carefully plan your movement throughout the levels. There are 120 levels in total. The sound is excellent and fulfills the "mood" perfectly. Graphics are very fluid and easy on the eyes. This is an all-around enjoyable game that will provide you with days and perhaps months of fun. The concept is original, the execution flawless so I don't see why it shouldn't deserve a 5 point mark! Strongly recommended!

A very impressive compilation of about 1,500 articles relating to the overall Israeli-Palestinian conflict. English-language edition was originally issued in French in 2002. By "revised" I mean that its "Yasir Arafat" article even mentions his death in November 2004, and printed in December, just before the start of the early 2005 Sharon-Abbas rapprochement.
Some articles contain only two sentences of commentary; others are two pages long. It details not only dozens of political parties throughout the Middle East, but it also provides short biographies of even obscure politicians involved in the Palestine controversy throughout the world - past and present. It provides the names and dates of various Israeli military operations throughout Palestine. It lists the relevant UN resolutions. It details the main issues at the annual Arab League summits between 1964-2004. Obscure Islamic terrorist (err, "liberation") groups are noted in separate articles. It has that "European" writing style: each sentence is written tightly, void of wordiness and each most informative. It is written in an unbiased, neutral manner. Islamic militants will be disappointed that it doesn't editorialize in condemning everything regarding Israel (err, "the Occupied Zionist Territory"). If there is a shortcoming to this dictionary, it fails to allow the strident "intensity of belief" flavor of the militant Palestinian perspective to come through. But then this is a dictionary, not a passionate political tract.

This is a dictionary, not an encyclopedia. There are few photographs. Fortunately it does not provide much "ancient" Biblical history to the Palestinian conflict; concentrating instead on events developing since the start of the 1880s Zionist movement to settle Jews in Palestine, and primarily since the 1940s - but strong even in the 2000-2004 Intifada era. It concentrates on the "political" disputes and personalities, rather than on any lengthy analysis of the religious chasm between the peoples.

And if one wasn't quite sure whether to put Miss McRae in the same company as a Sarah Vaughan or Dinah Washington, then this collection of numbers should definitely tip the scales. Here is one of jazz's most underrated chanteuses spelling it all out."

Yet even now policymakers need to plan for the future of finance—partly to convince voters that today’s rescue is preparing for a better system; partly because finance’s shortcomings and the taxpayers’ guarantees make an overhaul of regulation necessary; and partly because sensible reforms are hard to devise.

Having seen finance wreak havoc, the temptation will be to bind it in a regulatory straitjacket. Some tighter regulation is in order, especially if it is aimed at making the system more transparent. But this crisis was born of economic excess as well as financial folly; given the torrent of capital flowing into America, Britain, Spain and so on, almost any financial system would have gone wrong. Financial re-regulation is not the only reform—it may not even be the most important. Yet finance makes the rest of the economy work. Mr Obama’s prize for remaking finance will be measured in prosperity and jobs. The work should begin now.

Le monde de la Légende agonise. Les Furets ont débusqué les Transparents et attaquent leur campement. Les démons Yz et Meth ont découvert la cache de Théo, plus que jamais déterminés à tuer ce père maléfique... Le Grand Chêne, déchiré par ces assauts, se meurt et transmet ses pouvoirs et son trône à Ubu, toujours prisonnier de l'arbre. C'est une lourde charge pour le petit Furet qui doit rassembler ses sujets et apaiser les discordes pour sauver le royaume.
Mais n'est-il pas déjà trop tard ?

Reedman Walter Beasley has become one of contemporary jazz extraordinary saxman. Walter is an accomplished solo artist with eight-recorded CD's. Five under the Mercury label, in addition to a solo project "Live and More". Walter made his debut for Shanachie records April, 1997 with the CD entitled "Tonight we love". This sultry saxophonist is not a newcomer to jazz, his earlier influences has played a large part in his current career. Walter played trumpet in his earlier years and later switched to playing sax at the age of nine while studying with former Count Basis band member Jimmy Cannon. Walter's influence's are from a wide range of vocalists and musicians, such as Donny Hathaway, Cannonball Adderley, Grover Washington, Jr. and Earth Wind and Fire. Later he added vocals and compositions with his high school band, and continued at Berklee School of Music. The son of two educators, Walter was reared with an assortment of jazz around him. He continued to be open to all ranges of music and traditions at Berklee School of Music, located in Boston where he has taught for the past 12 years. Growing up in El Centro, CA, Walter's exposure to Latin, R&B, country western and jazz music has afforded him the opportunity to work in various genres and approached each one of them differently. Walter states that" he tried to be like a sponge, never giving any more weigh to one genre of less to another. I just think that if the music is good, it will speak for itself." This multi talented instrumentalist, composer, producer, arranger and vocalist has been able to juggle a hectic teaching schedule along with touring and is currently promoting his new CD entitled, "Won't you let me love you". This is the second release under the Shanachie label. With each new release, Walter has been able to bring something new and different to each CD project. Whether is he arranging or singing, Walter's music is a reflection of his life's experiences. Walter recently debut at the legendary Bluenote, NYC, NY with fellow label mate Chuck Loeb.
